10A.239 Perfume Development

This project was part of the "Visual Communication Studio 2" class at Parsons School of Design.

Three bottles of scent (body oil dropper, roller bottle and spray perfume) placed next to each other on a white seamless background

During this course, we were tasked to create a perfume concept that contributed to our ideals as fashion designers. From that concept, we had to develop a scent, bottle and packaging design, photography and a final fashion film. The main goal with my project was to create a product that could holistically represent a person's smell. Something strong enough to be recognized and associated with the person but subtle enough to be worn constantly. From that concept emerged 10A.239, a scent kit that includes an Eau de Parfum fragrance, body & hair oil and a roll-on body oil. The name derives from my current location in New York, as this scent reflects not only my current taste at this moment in time, but also my roommate's, who were part of the development process. This project is also the first of my brand ADAMO, which is the name featured on the bottle's packaging.

Three bottles of scents (body oil, perfume, roller) displayed on a white table with flowers, lemon and apple slices and some tulle.

I developed the scent using essential oils with alcohol and castor oil respectively. It uses a combination of lemon, green apple, lily of the valley, jasmine, gardenia, vanilla and amber scents. The labels and packaging were also designed and developed by me, as well as the final product photography which is displayed throughout this post.

The final part of this project was to create a fashion film or perfume ad that reflected the perfume's concept. This film shows the initial idea for the product, which is to represent a person's own personal scent. Francesca Idoyaga was my model and actress for the film, and represented this sensual and elegant character. The film was directed, produced and edited by me, filmed by Ariela Tepperman, and included music designed specially for this project by Lucas Rohm. I had assistance from Valentina Donoso Abuawad, Lauren Khan and Guilherme Lacerda, all of whom are properly credited at the end of the film.

All of the packaging, images and videos in this post belong to me and are not to be used without permission.
