Connections

"Each person that passes through our lives is unique. They always leave a little of themselves and take a little of us. There will be those who take a lot, but there won't be those who don't leave anything. This is the evident proof that two souls don't meet by chance."

- Jorge Luis Borges

This collection was part of my International Baccalaureate Visual Arts program.

The word connection has multiple meanings to it, that can be summarized as a union, communication or contact between at least two parties or components. This exploration aims to explore the different visual representations that this word can have. In its technological definition, a connection occurs when pieces combine in order to make something function. These pieces depend on each other in order to fulfill their full potential. In its human definition, relationships influence people and affect their personalities. These connections are much more abstract and fluctuating than the technological ones. Additionally, within the human relationships, theres ones own relationship with themselves and how their conscious and unconscious connect. Each artwork, guided by its title, aims to invite the observer towards a reflection about a certain topic and their own personal relationships.

All of the technological materials in this exhibition is waste diverted from landfill. Because, even when we can't recycle something, we can always make art with it.
